This curtain marks the entrance to the stair well going from the second floor to the third. I wanted to draw attention to the shift as the two floors are quite different. I also was looking for a place where visitors could interact with the building, and seemingly the building could interact with them. Also on my mind: spiritual cleansing, dirt baths, being taken under wing, physical gestures made by materials, commemoration of collecting which takes a kind of religious devotion. All of the ribbons in this piece came rolled up on spools. with the unfurling of yards and yards of ribbon, I felt I was unleashing the time stored in each spool, the stories held in each. the curtain with all it's ribbons is a remembrance of those actions, stories, and of that time.
